I don't really see the point of this article as it offers nothing that the 'Two Tone' article doesn't - perhaps a merger is in order?--Paolo Meccano 12:08, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Second
    • I disagree that the two should be merged, however the articles should be improved to make more of a distinction. Not all bands associated with the 2 Tone genre had records on 2 Tone records, and not all bands released on 2 Tone Records fits the typical 2 Tone sound, which was a mix of ska and punk rock. Propsed merger[edit]

Both article are stubs and could easily be in one place. It's obvious that they are very much linked. Discuss here. --Neon white 22:07, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They're related, but they're not the same subject. One is a musical style; the other is a record publisher. See the comments by Spylab, above. - 66.93.200.116 (talk) 03:23, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is most certainly a distinct difference between these articles, and it would be folly to call them the same.
  • Oppose - the genre is named after the record company, AFAIK, but not all 2 Tone bands were on the label. --MacRusgail (talk) 23:49, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of external link[edit]

I've removed the link to this:

www.vinylnet.co.uk/label-discography.asp/label/19/2-Tone-records-discography.html

It does have a discography but it was tied to advertising three independent small specialist second-hand record dealerships. Normally I wouldn't worry about it since there's many commercial sites that do provide relevant info for articles. However I felt that the discogs on the site above was not needed because the non-commercial 2-tone.info said all the same things and much more. To the owners of the shops and the site - I mean no offense and hope that you don't mind.

I will be back to do some work on this article. The first thing I'm going to do is remove the statement to do with "rudies, skinheads, mods" as the main followers. That is not correct. After 2 tone attracted the skinheads including the more right wing nationalists the tours they undertook became problematic. The Specials with their multiracial line-up quite often had tour problems including members of the band getting involved physically with certain members of the audience. Surprisingly the 2-tone movement on the whole did not draw "rudies" or "mods" to their concerts and if you were from a visibly ethnic background you would be taking a risk by attending the concerts. We are talking about a minority of troublemakers but in an audience of 3,000 those nationalist types could easily number in the hundreds. How do I know this? Lets just say I had to make a quick decision at a Specials gig I attended. Discretion was the better part of valour on that day. lol

Checkerboard[edit]

The checkerboard was inspired by the bathroom tiling in Jerry Dammer's house. I used to know someone who lived in the house and the tiles were still there. Stub Mandrel (talk) 12:40, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
