Stage 1B results[edit]

Where do the results of stage 1B come from? When comparing the table in the article with the rankings at the official website, the general classification results match, while the stage results show different times. IMHO the stage results should be exactly equal to the general classification after 1B, as the prologue result determined only the starting order, and is not added to the total time of the competitor. For most categories, it seems like the article shows stage times computed by subtracting the stage time of 1A (the prologue) from the general classification result…? And for trucks, the stage results are… dunno, no idea? E.g. Eduard Nikolaev having a better general classification time than just the stage 1B time? --Mormegil (talk) 10:15, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Prologue or Stage 1A times counts towards the general classification (and in bikes only, the time differences were multiplied by a factor of 5). You can find the times of stage 1A in the official website live timming here. Select stage 0. That you ll get all the times. Stage 1A times were publish in press like here (pt), here (pt) or here (this in english). Stage 1B times for trucks aren't correct in fact. Ales Loprais got a penalty after the end of the stage. Participant numbers[edit]

@Waluigithewalrus: Calling out participant numbers in the paragraph makes references to riders more specific and better identifiable, and does not compromise the flow of the text. I would strongly suggest to revert your changes and keep competitor numbers. Wolfmartyn (talk) 23:25, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that I agree with that. It's not something that was done with previous editions of the Dakar, and I'm not sure it adds much, since competitor numbers aren't part of competitor identities like they are in other motorsport series. I would like more people to weigh in though, given I'm just one guy :) Waluigithewalrus (talk) 23:32, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I support Waluigithewalrus. As a long time Dakar fan, numbers are not important and not usual in text of news or other sources, since they change every year according with previous year classification. So adding the numbers in the text won't be helpful.Rpo.castro (talk) 11:52, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Race vs incidents[edit]

When I created the topics "Race" and "Incidents", the first one would be a summary of the race, in text to complement the tables, while the other would be for outside the race aspects (when I created was to fit the car explosion outside in the hotel). But regarding the retirements, it looks like they could fit both sides and some are in both in fact. Should we just merge all into one topic, moving retirements to "race" topic or rename it?Rpo.castro (talk) 15:16, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
