Ugh, bad article[edit]

I've tried tidying up the nonencyclopedic language a bit, but I'm not familiar enough with the subject matter to decipher some of the jargon. I've left the following sentence in because, although it is awful, I get the idea it's saying something worth mentioning, but I don't know what.

"Then to add the icing on the cake you have 22 or SB guys whom come in as team commanders or are part of attachments which work alongside the det."

What's SB? Special Branch? Signals Batallion? What's '22'? Is it an abbreviation for a regiment or did the author mean '22 or 23' or '22 or so'? --Aim Here 15:07, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think "22" is reference to SAS regulars.

SB and 22 are references to the SBS and SAS troopers - This is incorrect, SB refers to Special Branch of the RUC

SB is a reference to special branch. 22 is a reference to 22 Special Air service Regt

The above is correct, Special branch (SB) in NI deal with surveilance and was known as E4A (E four Alpha) both E4A and 'Det' (14 Int) were under control of TCG (north & south). TCG = Tactical Control Group. All ops had to have the approval of TCG before they could go ahead. The second comment is incorrect - all team commanders in the 'det' had completed 'det' selection and had transfered to the unit for a minimum of 2 tours. Members of 22 (sas)do often support the 'det' EG Louchgall - the det carried out all the surviellance and the SAS took over when the IRA ASU stormed he RUC station, However the 'det' are not a fighting force, despite the fact they are all trained in CQB,excape and evation and share anumber of weapons such as H & K MP5, HK53 etc etc. The 'det' also uses green army teams known as COP (close observation Platoon) they consist of an officer (usually a Capt)& several NCO's they are all selected from their battalion and are regarded as the best in their unit, they complete a course called 'Top Cop' and carry out observation tasks and work to support the'det'. There has been a number of COP that have produced excellent results over the water - such as 1DWR, Palace BKs Belfast (1987 - 1989) & 42 Commando Royal Marines, Drummad Bks, Armagh (1995). Selection for 14 Int came under a number of different giuses such as Op Settlement. Op Maximise was the name for selection to 12 Int (Informer handlers) the selection for this was similar to 14 Int and both worked along side each other in NI.

MRF[edit]

I suspect a mistake by saying that the MRF (Mobile Reconnaissance Force) was a cover name of the 14 Int. According to [1], the MRF (but refering as to Military Recognisance Force) was a special unit who was created and disbanded before the creation of the 14 Int. Rob1bureau

Nairac "alleged to be" in 14 Int - for Weggie[edit]

Weggie: Since 14 Int did not officially exist every member was alleged to be in it. Is anyone seriously saying Nairac was not in 14 Int? If not, then suggest the "alleged to be" is superfluous. But, let's not fight over it.

4 Field Survey Troop[edit]

There should be some mention of the 4 Field Survey Troop that operated out of Castledillon.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 12:45, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Endgame[edit]

There should logically be some reference to what the unit is doing nowadays- post-Belfast agreement (if anything of course) Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi 12:41, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
