Premachi Goshta (transl. Love Story – transl. Story of Love) is an Indian Marathi language television drama series airing on Star Pravah. It premiered from 4 September 2023, when it replaced Rang Maza Vegla. It is produced by Shashi and Summet Mittal under the banner of Shashi Sumeet Productions. It stars Tejashri Pradhan, Raj Hanchnale, Apurva Nemlekar and Ira Parwade in lead roles. It is based on Manju Kapur's novel Custody and is an official remake of Hindi TV series Yeh Hai Mohabbatein.[1]
Plot[edit]
The series is set in Bandra, Mumbai and focuses on the lives of two next-door neighbors, Dr. Mukta Gokhale, a pediatric dentist, and Sagar Koli "SK", a CEO. Mukta befriends Sai after rescuing her from an accident, but she's shocked by Sagar's harsh treatment of Sai. By chance, Mukta meets Pranav at her nephew's thread ceremony, sparking memories of their college romance, and her infertility leading to Pranav canceling their wedding. When Sagar returns from Goa, he avoids meeting Sai due to a painful past with his wife, Saavni, who cheated on him with his former boss, Harshavardhan. Mukta agrees to an arranged marriage with Pratik. Meanwhile, Mihir and Mihika try to gain approval from their families for their relationship, but both families reject it. Mukta tries to convince Sagar to support them, but he refuses.
Sai gets locked inside a room during The Business Excellence Award ceremony, and Mukta comes to her rescue, leading to a misunderstanding with Sagar. Sharmila gives Sai an extra dose of expired cough syrup which leads to Mukta taking Sai to the hospital without informing Sagar's family. Sagar files a police complaint against Mukta. Madhavi and Purushottam get arrested during the engagement ceremony. Mukta breaks ties with Pratik after discovering his true colours. Sagar regrets misunderstanding Mukta after learning the truth about Sai's condition. Harshavardhan manipulates Saavni to gain custody of Sai. Chaos ensues when Saavni presents legal documents to take Sai. After the court grants them divorce, Sagar tries to gain custody of Sai, but the court rules in favor of Saavni.
Sagar encounters a challenging situation when his client, Rohit, and Rohit's wife, Revati, mistakenly assume Mukta to be his wife. Sagar persuades Mukta to pretend to be his spouse, and she agrees to assist for Sai's sake. Later, Mihir invites Rohit to the Diwali festival celebrations at Shanti Niwas Apartments. During the event, Rohit and Revati meet Sagar's family. Eventually, Mukta, Sagar, and Sai celebrate the Diwali festival together, experiencing great joy as a family.
Madhavi locks Indra in a storeroom and angrily confronts Sagar for involving Mukta to pretend to be his wife. Subsequently, Indra, who suffers from claustrophobia, falls unconscious. The watchmen inform Sagar when the entire Koli family starts searching for her. Mihir claims to have seen Madhavi near the storeroom. This leads to a clash between Sagar and Mukta. Later, Madhavi confesses her actions to Lucky, who reassures her not to worry. Mihika discovers Madhavi's involvement in locking Indra and attempts to apologize to Mihir, reaching out to him at a restaurant.
Mihika is shocked by Mihir's malicious act of circulating her viral video to defame her, unaware that it was actually orchestrated by Lucky seeking revenge on Mihir. Sagar defends Mihir when Mukta and Mayuresh accuses him of spreading obscene videos of Mihika. Mukta vows to assist Saavni in winning the custody case. During the custody court proceedings, Sai expresses her wish to stay with Mukta rather than the Kolis or Saavni. Mukta tells the judge to grant paternal custody to whoever will keep Sai happy. Jayant and Purushottam decide to unite Mukta and Sagar in marriage for the sake of Sai. They plan to bring their families at a resort.
At the resort, the Gokhales and the Kolis learn of this and turn down the proposal. Jayant and Purushottam feel disheartened as their plan doesn't succeed. Eventually, Mukta and Sagar decide to marry, considering Sai's well-being. Both families eventually accept this decision. Saavni mistakenly believes that Mukta's fiancé is Mayuresh. The families joyfully celebrate Mukta and Sagar's engagement. Indra assures Mukta that she will be treated like her own daughter, leaving Madhavi deeply moved. Sagar confides in Sai that he is, in fact, Mukta's fiancé when she urges him to cancel the wedding. Sai is delighted by this revelation. Overwhelmed with emotion, Sai affectionately calls Mukta as her mother which makes the latter very happy. The Kolis and Gokhales enjoy every wedding event with great joy. Later, Saavni is shocked to learn that Sagar is actually Mukta's fiancé and tries to stop the wedding by lying about Sagar being a bad father to Aditya, their son. Mukta cancels the wedding when she finds out about Sagar hiding the truth. However, it is revealed that Mukta's actions were just a pretense to make Saavni leave. Mukta and Sagar eventually get married in front of Sai and their families.
Mukta's unexpected appearance in court surprises Saavni and Harshvardhan. During the custody hearing, the judge questions Sai about who should have custody of her, and Sai ultimately decides to give custody to Saavni. Mukta wonders why Sai chose Saavni instead of her. After reviewing testimony, the court gives the joint custody of Sai to Mukta and Sagar. The judge later condemns Harshvardhan for manipulating Sai into choosing Saavni. The Kolis throw a grand party to celebrate Sai's return home. Harsh tries to take revenge, convincing Sagar that Sai is not his daughter until Mukta realizes what's going on and uses a DNA test to resolve Sagar's doubts, the results come in Sagar’s favour.
Mukta discovers Swati and Kartik together at a lodge and learns they're being blackmailed over a false accusation against Kartik. Her late return home concerns Sagar and their families. Suspicion arises when Lucky notices Mukta packing meat quietly, and Savni sows doubt about Mukta's whereabouts in Sagar's mind. Aditya invites Sagar to his birthday, upsetting him by giving gifts meant for him to the driver's son. Mukta chastises Aditya for his actions, emphasizing the importance of love and respect in relationships. To help Swati and Kartik, Mukta decides to pawn her gold jewelry. Indra panics upon discovering the missing jewelry and confronts Mukta. Savni further manipulates Aditya against Sagar and Mukta. Sagar intervenes just in time to save Mukta from eviction, bringing Swati and Kartik home to clarify the situation to Indra. Sagar apologizes to Mukta, promising unwavering trust. Sagar supports Kartik financially to settle the blackmail and offers him a job.
Mukta helps Aditya in securing admission to the same school as Sai. Sagar takes up the challenge of demonstrating love in his and Mukta's marriage to Savni. He prepares puranpoli for her, orchestrates a romantic surprise for Mukta, and shares it on social media to showcase their love to Savni. Unexpectedly, Savni and Harshvardhan announce their partnership in Sagar Fisheries, surprising Sagar. Savni experiences jealousy seeing Sagar happy with Mukta. Mukta and Savni engage in fierce competition to become the model for a product launched by Sagar Fisheries. Savni locks Mukta in the washroom, but Sagar comes to her rescue. During a dance competition, Mukta saves Savni from a fall and wins the challenge. Due to Aditya's misbehavior, the principal suggests counseling. Unbeknownst to Savni, Madhavi conducts the counseling. Madhavi and Mukta strategize Aditya's counseling, aiming to evoke his childhood memories with Sagar to highlight Sagar's affection. When Savni discovers Madhavi as the counselor, she manipulates Aditya against Mukta taking him away from her through the counselling. At Holi, Sagar expresses his love and proposes to Mukta, but upon learning of his insincerity, Mukta feels shattered and slaps Sagar. Savni is shaken by Aditya's altered perspective toward Sagar. Despite their efforts, Savni and Harshvardhan's plan to take over Sagar's company by manipulating his signatures fails.
Kartik collaborates with Savni and engages in inappropriate behavior towards Mukta. Despite Mukta informing Indra and Swati, they doubt her claims. Mukta discovers through her assistant, Bulbul, that she was previously targeted by Kartik in Dubai. Later, Kartik assaults Mukta. Despite Mukta's efforts to expose him, Kartik manipulates the Kolis, leading to Madhavi criticizing Indra for not supporting Mukta. Mukta goes at the Gokhale house. With Bulbul's assistance, Sagar exposes Kartik's misdeeds to his family, resulting in his arrest. Seeking revenge, Swati persuade Mukta to return to the Koli house as part of her and Kartik's plan.
With the approval of both the Kolis and Gokhales, Mukta and Sagar agree to wed Mihir and Mihika. However, during the engagement ceremony, Savni reveals herself to be Mihir's sister to the Gokhales, leading Madhavi to call off the wedding. Sagar and Mukta assure Mihir and Mihika of their support through this ordeal. Harshwardhan facilitates Kartik's release from jail. Kartik then opts to sow discord between Mukta and Sagar, enlisting Swati's assistance in the process. Madhavi is struck by a car, resulting in an accident. Sagar and Mukta resolve to find and punish the driver responsible for Madhavi's injury. Sagar faces a moral dilemma upon discovering that Aditya inadvertently caused the accident and chooses to keep this information from Mukta to protect Aditya. Savni, seizing the opportunity, schemes to sow discord between Mukta and Sagar.

Production[edit]
Casting[edit]
Raj Hanchnale was chosen to portray the character of Sagar Koli, the male lead.[2] Tejashri Pradhan, who had her last appearance in Aggabai Sasubai, returned to the screen after a hiatus of two and a half years to take on the role of Dr. Mukta Ghokale, the female lead.
Apurva Nemlekar was chosen to portray Saavni, the antagonist, while Yash Pradhan was cast as Harshvardhan Adhikari, the other negative lead.[3] Sanjeevani Jadhav was chosen to portray the character Indra Koli,[4] while Shubhangi Gokhale was selected to portray Madhavi Gokhale.[5]
Title Song[edit]
The title song "Premachi Goshta" features music composed by Nilesh Moharir, with lyrics penned by Shripad Joshi. The song is sung by Sugandha Datye and Abhishek Telang, accompanied by the guitar and additional programming by Vikram Bam. It is recorded by Ankesh Chandankhede at Ajivasan Sounds and mixed by Ajinkya Dhapare at The Sonic Station.[6]
