Diversity of features

The first thing I am noticing about this page is that every single feature regards an Abrahamic religion. I do not know if there have been more faiths repreented in past weeks, but a greater amount of diversity needs to be displayed on a page concerning all the religions of the world.

It is easy to select another featured article, concept, picture, virtue, belief, value, ... Please use your best judgement on your selection though. To illustrate this, I have rotated the selection of article and picture. Please join in. Ancheta Wis 10:29, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

Is this an active project? I looked at the page quite some time ago and we still have the same featured person and Did You Know articles, it seems. Anything I can do? --User:Jenmoa 04:47, 24 July 2005 (UTC)

Switching from Alpha to Topical Portal List

How about switching from the alpha (template:Portals) to the topical (template:Main portals) Portal list? Even with the relatively small number of portals displayed, the topical list is much easier to browse. As time goes by, the topical list will be very much easier to follow. Here's a comparison. Broad definition of Religion

Under the broadest definition of religion, groups that have no ritual but philosophy are relgions. This includes PETA and American Atheists. However, groups with ritual but no philosophy would probably be considered separate religions also. This would trap groups like the masons and fraternities. Even sections psudoscience could be considered relgions. This would include the theory behind (but not nessisarly the results of) chiropractic.--metta, The Sunborn 01:49, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

Personally, I think this is overly broad for the task at hand: creating an encyclopedia. Once you cross such a line that almost anything becomes a religion, the term ceases to have any functional denotative meaning; after all, at a certain reductio ad absurdum level, anything "believed" by a group of people becomes a religion, and every non-biographical entry in here would get tagged with Category:Religion, which is worse than useless. Given the standing mechanisms of this forum, I submit that we allow Consensus to drive what is, or is not, to be included as a religion, since brightline divisions in this field are, well, divisive. I suspect, though I do not know, that consensus would include Masonry and perhaps Atheism, and probably not fraternaties and PETA. --Kgf0 17:50, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

Timeline of unfulfilled Christian Prophecy

Wikipedia has long held a list of the Christian prophecies (that is to say, those prophesies made by Christians) throughout hisotry that did not occur when they were predicted to. There is an ongoing debate over the name, and a vote is now taking place at Talk:Timeline of unfulfilled Christian Prophecy. Books

Hi all - I'm an active participant in the Books WikiProject, and have proposed a stub type for books about religion. I see that there's a Religious texts category and a Religious studies category, but no obvious spot for books about religion that are neither studies nor texts. Should my stub be "reli-book-stub" (Religion book stub) even though there's no category with that name? Or should it be "spirit-book-stub" for Spiritual book stub, to go with the Spiritual books category? Please share your opinion at the stub proposal page. Revenues

  • You'd probably want to check with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Catholicism for that, or possibly the tax records which have been filed with the various governments. From what I remember, their revenue is generally barely enough to meet expenditures. Their primary assets are in the properties they own. Unfortunately, many of these properties, particularly the larger ornate churches, have their valuation based on the replacement value, not their resale value, which is basically nil.
