Portal:Cincinnati

This weekish Month

Top

I'm not really sure about the top "The Ohio Portal" of pictures thing. It seems gaudy and the edges of the letters and the quarter seem fuzzy. SpencerT♦C 21:20, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

I think that if the font of "The Ohio Portal" is facing forward, but not tilted, that it would look much better. SpencerT♦C 22:49, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Nice find! I was looking around for a panorama or something, but the one on Cleveland wasn't good enough, and Cinci's wasn't that great either. SpencerT♦C 03:15, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm also trying Image:Cleveland-Panorama-JasonRene.jpg, as it makes the grey backround look darker because of the vibrant color. SpencerT♦C 20:45, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Category

I made a category Category:Ohio Portal Subportals, to help us organize the portals a little easier. I don't want to add all of the "on this day" things, as it will take quite a while...if you're interested in adding the categories to the new ones you make, feel free. I'll probably add the categories later, but a Category secondary-type page might be better so we don't have 366 Did you know? pages cluttering that up. I hope this helps. Portal peer review

Portal:Ohio

  • Looks not bad at all! However, with Firefox 2 on OS X the boxes line up...oddly. They have irregular vertical space between them, some nearly touch, others are quite far apart. This is probably because the main page seems to have a set of divs for each box, where you really only need three divs for the entire page: left column, right column, and the bottom full width. See Portal:Peer review (which, admittedly, has a few nested divs but is easy to make out). Msanford  T  03:11, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

News and Recent Changes

Space between boxes

Can you help me reduce the space between the boxes, like in Portal:Spain? I've been trying to using the show preview button, and I still haven't been able to get a satisfactory result yet. SpencerT♦C 17:53, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Looks good. I moved the shortcuts to the box itself, but it still won't stretch for me.. I also added how many Ohio articles there are, similar to the Medicine portal, OverLordQ made the bot that counts them from Category:Ohio. Hmm...it seems out of place. I added it to Portal:Ohio/Categories, but now there's some error on Portal:Ohio. Can you help me fix this? See if you can put the category count above the category tree. SpencerT♦C 01:37, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Gotta discuss eventually....

I've been dreading bringing this up, but have already slowly started to do this. Do you think the whole Portal should just have content mass added and then all the sections set to random; or leave it the way it is and just update every few weeks? Looking at other FPs, they all pretty much Random in them everywhere. This is gonna be a bit to take on, but then it pretty much becomes maitenance free accept for adding new content. I'll start with Biography and take whatever else is left to after that is finished. I do have a question though, should the pages be renamed from Featured to Selected, and then have the featured pages deleted...or leave it as it is? ie. Instead of featured person/PastFP, make it Selected Bio, same for articles and pics. Also, for FA and GA articles, should the symbol be added to the beginning of the paragraph or not? Yes, add the symbols. Note: If Ohio becomes and FA, don't put the bronze star in the intro. Yes, make it selected and then we'll put in a request for those to be deleted. SpencerT♦C 11:01, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Anne Sexton
