News section

Content for the news section can be obtained from Current events in Malaysia and Singapore. If you would like to update the section with any new news, please update the current events article at the same time and vice versa (just make sure only Malaysian news goes into the Malaysian portal).

Dates should be listed on the day as soon as it's published in the newspapers, and not on the day of the event. If the only copy comes from an online news website, use the date provided on the news article.

Content

Before changing the FA or FP, take the intro sentence and/or a couple paragraphs of the history section. It is recommended that you take a look and fix any problems that you can see on the FA and FP articles, and then include the updated version of the articles. This also goes the same way for the Malaysia section of the portal.

I've updated, but why can't I see any changes?

That's because you need to purge the server cache.

Just click this link to see your new edits in effect.

Note

The above is not an official policy of the portal or anything binding at all, just suggestions. Please improve the portal as you see fit, even if it's against the listed suggestions. Regards, Andylkl (talk) 10:11, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

Discussion

How about include a title for Malaysia online activities e.g. Malaysian bloggers, online activist? Sltan 08:52, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

From the top of my mind only Jeff Ooi deserves an article about himself at the moment, perhaps there are one or two others more that I can't remember at the moment (Mack Zulkifli perhaps?). Let's list down the names of some notable bloggers first. As for activists, if they've been covered in the newspapers in these past few years, it could be beneficial if their names could be listed here too. Btw, I think this kind of question is best asked on the Malaysian notice board. --Andylkl (talk) 17:13, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
wow, those are "hardcore" literacture. Perhaps a mixture of figures will show the true Malaysian online activities. E.g. TV Smith is actually veteran of online contents, back 1995, before internet boom. Sixthseal is well known for his boldness on blogs. And some bloggers are well know to polluting/enrich the Internet with special jargon. Some are social activist. A "blogger column" should be sufficient Sltan 12:08, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

Hi..fellas ..maybe we can create some of malaysian wikipedian...how about that???che 05:13, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Malaysiakini's Sim Kwang Yang might deserve a shout; might be notable enough on the grounds of being an MP alone, much less being a Mkini columnist. Borisblue 00:52, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Portal Outdated

The Malaysian Portal is outdated. Most of the events (and news) listed there have already happened long ago (to be more precise; March). Also, the featured picture is stil the same (Mount Kinabalu). Could someone please update it? Thank you. Acs4b 01:45, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm teaching myself bahasa Melayu so I figure I might as well learn more about the country. I'll clean it up a bit. Gicheru 00:01, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Portal Inactive

Everyone, I believe this portal is inactive at the moment. The news are all..I'm sorry to say...outdated. They're all about 2 months old. Why leave it halfway done? Shouldn't we be working on it again? Come on people, you worked hard until it is at this stage and now you desert it? That will not do. Let's perk it up again. Agreed? -Zachary crimsonwolf 15:29, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Malaysia

Calling all Malaysian Wikipedians around the world!! It is high time for us to start our own WikiProject for Malaysia..any one can create/assiting me to create WikiProject Malaysia. Marcusaffleck 11:19, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Sure. Tell me when you're ready. I'm not really that good in creating new articles, but I can help (a lot) after you've done the basics. Cheers!! --Zacharycrimsonwolf 14:13, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Count me in! docboat 23:58, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, we've got three now, so we can get to work. But first of all, I would really like some help in updating this portal. Then we can focus in the WikiProject and this portal. --Zacharycrimsonwolf 13:22, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

  • I need help in editing the portal - new to me! But I have added one news item, and I can probably be more regular in editing the news section. What needs to be done? docboat 13:40, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
OK, getting to grips with the news - this can be done - anyone else ready to step up? docboat 15:06, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Help

I cant see anything in the Portal page. I only see blue. Any idea whats wrong? kawaputratorque 10:12, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Now i see it using Internet Explorer. It doesnt work with firefox? kawaputratorque 10:35, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I use Firefox almost exclusively, and there is no problem with the page. Thanks for the additions - the portal needs contributors docboat 14:45, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
I'll try my best. But I still can't see with Firefox. So there must be something wrong with my browser. But I have no problem with other portals. The main portion of the portal would appear for 2 seconds and then becomes all blue. Oh well.. kawaputratorque 16:44, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
The trials we face! :) Good to see you - and that you are active on the Malaysia project. I am just getting into things properly, so I suspect we shall a bit of each other on these pages. docboat 03:12, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Good 2 see u too. We definitely need more participants in the wikiproject. I'll most probably be more active in the main wikiproject than in this portal cos of this bug. anyhew, happy editing :) kawaputratorque 08:30, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Whelp...got busy in real life, but I'm kinda fine now. Anything I can do/ I can get news, but it'll be a little tough to cite the sources. --Zacharycrimsonwolf 11:31, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Yup, me too, just back from KL and JB ... now back to the portal! docboat 11:42, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, how about something like the trip to space by Dr Sheikh, or the Eye on Malaysia? They are rather outdated, but I don't think there's anything about it on the Portal. --Zacharycrimsonwolf 14:02, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

There is now - getting more to grips with editing. I see you are getting coaching now - there is no-one available at the moment to get me up to speed, but I seem to be getting the hang of things. docboat 03:40, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

I came across this article while cleaning up untagged images; it doesn't appear to assert anything notable and had no references. I wasn't able to find anything other than basic information about the company when searching, so I've prod'd it. If anyone knows whether or not this company meets WP:CORP, can you please update the page? Thanks. Shell babelfish 00:34, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
