Nola Caribbean Festival
The Nola Caribbean Festival is a two-day celebration[1] in New Orleans. First launched by Joel Hitchcock Tilton[2] in June 2013, it centers around Caribbean food, music, dance and culture[3] within the context of the connections the city of New Orleans has to the region.[4] The first event was held at the now defunct Freret Street Publiq House[5] and in the following years it moved to Central City BBQ, 1201 Rampart Street.[6] As well as celebratory events leading up to the weekend of the carnival,[7] there are events such as: African drum lessons, comedy,[8] mix and mingle, Bounce versus Dancehall competition,[9] a Kids Corner and the Sun & Soca Breakfast Party.[10] In 2020 the event had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.[11]
