Bug in the mobile version[edit]

As with the Chessboard module, the output of this module is broken on mobile version. See: http://i.imgur.com/tGSGV6z.png. The horizontal space between cells has been fixed, but the vertical space is still present. To fix this, 'line-height: 0' should be added to the table's style attribute, and 'padding: 0; vertical-align: inherit' added to the table cells containing the letter 'a'. --Exizt (talk) 09:44, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Almost fixed?[edit]

I've proceeded with the changes. I've tested them in mobile Chrome for iOS and the following desktop browsers: IE7+, latest Firefox, latest Chrome. There are some issues with the display in IE7 (the letters and numbers are half-hidden) which I'm planning on fixing later, and there is still some pixel-wide unexplainable whitespace in Chrome for iOS in the first two columns (but it's still much better than before). --Exizt (talk) 09:52, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

great. thank you for fixing it. Frietjes (talk) 16:27, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What comes after z?[edit]

There is a 64×64×64 variant, so it's not just a theoretical question. Double sharp (talk) 16:15, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Microsoft Excel uses bijective base-26: aa, ab, ac, ....Burzuchius (talk) 20:25, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
{{#invoke:Chessboard_mxn|board|cols=64|rows=64|letters=both|numbers=both}} now kind of works, but is stressing the limitations of the server, so not recommended. Frietjes (talk) 22:07, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this! Indeed I just tested it in preview, and while it works (going to "bl64"), it takes a very long time. Nonetheless I do not anticipate a need for 64×64 diagrams outside that one article, so we should be fine.
This would necessitate brackets in notation, to make it clear if "Raf1" means "a-file (there's another possible one) rook to f1" or "unambiguous rook to af1". I would write R(a)f1 for the former and R(af)1 for the latter to make it absolutely clear which is meant. But since there are no sample games of 64×64 chess (for obvious reasons), just rules, and I think it will remain so for a long time, I do not think this would ever be a problem. Move discussion in progress[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Template talk:Chess diagram which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 14:44, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Enclosing class[edit]

This module should output HTML that has the classes of "chess-board" and "notheme", just like Template:Chess diagram. Opencooper (talk) 12:51, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
