Miceli's is an ancient Italian restaurant in Hollywood, California.[1]

Miceli's started in Hollywood in 1949 and later expanded to several additional locations. Both the Hollywood and Universal City locations are known for their dark, sprawling and colorful interiors, ceilings lined with hanging Chianti bottles,[2] and singing servers.

The wooden booths, stools, and wall panels were removed from the nearby Pig 'n Whistle after it went defunct in 1952.[3]

History[edit]

The restaurant was founded by World War II (WWII) veteran Carmen Miceli.

Miceli born in Chicago on March 17, 1923, to Sicilian immigrants and moved to Los Angeles in 1946, working as a waiter at Ciro's before bringing his family to California to open their first restaurant.

Miceli passed away in 2015, at the age of 92.

Famous Guests[edit]

Miceli's Hollywood pizzeria attracted many famous Italian Americans, including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joe DiMaggio, and his wife Marilyn Monroe. [4] Three U.S. presidents are also said to have visited the pizzeria.
