Rewrite to non-technical English

This help page should be written in non-technical English. If I understood what it was trying to say, I'd translate it myself. -- SamuelWantman 18:20, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Icons

Is there a reason why the icons cannot link to the other projects? -- SamuelWantman 16:11, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Wikispiecies

Why isn't a wikispiecies icon shown?-- penubag  (talk) 02:44, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

From the article: 'Some Wikimedia projects are missing, like Wikimedia Incubator and Wikispecies. See bug 14407 for this issue.'
It seems that Unified Login is now working for Wikispecies. --Eastlaw (talk) 22:20, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Functionality

Does this actually work as it implies? When I go on other Wikimedia sites I'm not logged in immediately or anything. -- Mentisock 08:01, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

It is the third party cookies thing. To clarify the front page, with third party cookies disabled, if you are logged in and go to a different site of the same project (other language usually), an account will be created automatically and one will be logged in, if there already is a unified account, one will be logged in to that. If one is logged in anywhere and goes to a different project one will not be logged in there, you have to manually log in, then when you log out on any wiki, you are logged out of all wikis. Login icons, make linked ?

Its all very nice when I login to see a row of wiki-bit logos that I'm logged into but it would be nicer still if the images were linked to the relevant main-pages, so that I could quickly jump into various of my logged-in projects.

Of course at home I can set up any number of Internet Explorer Favorites to jump into relevant projects once I've logged on, but that's not the case when I'm outside of home. I can't imagine the coding could be that difficult for this ? David Ruben Talk 19:23, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Easier said then done, most of the icons reference projects. Which language should it link to? Q T C 08:18, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
As the message, having logged in is in English, I naively assumed there is a separate login page for each language (in which case language already determined), but if not then I appreciate not an option. David Ruben Talk 09:02, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Agreed, clicking should link me to the Wikipedia Commons Main Page; even if I login on Wikipedia.
I second that motion. --Candlewicke (Talk) 20:20, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Agree that it is very confusing. Mr. Unsigned Not worth it (talk) 23:28, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Good point Q. Can we create an account preference for a user to select their default language? It should make a smart prediction as a default and/or prompt the user to select a default language preference when the user creates their unified account. XXVII (talk) 03:03, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes, this would be helpful. whiskers75 11:44, 31 August 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Whiskers75 (talkcontribs)

Icons are also shown if third-party cookies are blocked

Hence, the following is incorrect?

> If Wikipedia was unable to log you in to one of the other sites, then the corresponding icon will not appear.

Geoff Gray

Draft article

Geoff Gray (born August 23, 1961 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa but raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana) is a former American race car driver. He began racing driving go-carts in his teens and after a brief stint in the military developed a working relationship through his father with the legendary Paul Leffler, working on and testing midget and sprint cars while Paul helped develod Geoff's driving skills. Geoff moved from Formula Vee on to Formula 2000 and then on to Formula Atlantic before back injuries finally sidelined him from open wheel racing in 1996. Geoff briefly tried to rejoin the open wheel world but was unsuccessful. In 1999 Geoff returned to oval track racing and in 2000 raced the NAMARS series truck series finishing sixth in his rookie year.

In 1996 while in New Zealand Geoff had run across a car that he later purchased and brought over to the US to race, at the same time developing a relationship with the seller that would soon develop into a partnership that would soon become Saker Motorpsorts USA. To better design the car for the US market Geoff asked Tony Vakerics, his crew chief to go to New Zealand to assist in building the first car. The Saker Team was accentuated with addition of the Robarge brothers, John and Chris of Chevrolet Corvette / Duntov fame, in 2003.

Along with his close relationship with Paul Leffler, Geoff always considered Mike "Buzz " Fedorcak his "mentor" and close friend. Indeed Geoff and his close friend and team leader Tony Vakerics enjoyed working with Mike at every opportunity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.242.160.165 (talk) 03:15, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Pureplay computer dealing

I as playing in the 3 am/Eastern time--$10 Instant cash NL Hold'em game and finished 5th. But before I busted out, I folded a 9/2. The flop came A-9-9. I kicked myself for having folded the hand of the night, especially "turn-9" and "river-A" came. Because when player "sort4fun" shoved ALL IN of course the other player called because it could only be a SPLIT POT unless "sort4fun" had FIFTH NINE. And to my surprise he did. I tried to log in to chat, but I had not used it before and was not able to do so. I did send my observations to the HELP DESK....player name on PUREPLAY: eacjrEacjr mtx (talk) 09:18, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
