Goth Babe is the American indie rock solo project of singer-songwriter Griffen "Griff" Washburn. Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Washburn has maintained a grounded lifestyle while navigating his rising music career since the release of the single Sometimes in 2018, prioritizing a scaled-back existence to pursue his passion for the outdoors and the environment.

After releasing a series of singles and EPs the first Goth Babe album title Lola was released in 2024.[1]

Early life[edit]

Griff Washburn was born in Chattanooga,Tennessee and moved to Nashville to pursue his music career before moving to New York and ultimately to the West Coast.[1][2]

Career[edit]

Goth Babe released a Sometimes in 2018 which garnered a substantial following and six years later he headlined and sold-out shows at prominent venues such as Red Rocks, LA's Greek Theater, and NYC's Pier 17. Despite accumulating a passionate online audience, surpassing 100 million streams with some songs, his unconventional life remains the focal point, shaping the content of his latest work, "Lola."[3]

Personal life[edit]

Griff Washburn is well known for his nomadic lifestyle, but it hasn't been without risk. His single Sometimes was released with a short film titled "Tides" that focuses on his struggle with PTSD after being held up by gunpoint.[4] In 2022, Washburn's home burned down and he lost his iMac with years worth of unreleased music.[5]
