The chorus melody is not the standard one, so this sound file is not a good illustration. It is a use of artistic license which is perfectly fine in an artistic sense, but not as reference material.

I believe the chorus melody is the one used in the original version as written by James Lord Pierpont. If I have interpreted you correctly, the "standard" melody you refer to is the one used in the modern version.

I believe I can hear an error: In "Dashing through the snow / In a one horse open sleigh", "sleigh" is the same pitch as "snow", i.e. a whole-tone lower than it should be. This is also true in subsequent verses: In "I thought I'd take a ride", "a story I must tell", and "go it while you're young", "ride", "tell", and "young" are a whole-tone too low.70.230.144.82 (talk) 02:23, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
