I think the creator of this page, though meaning well, is confusing the National Union Party, arguably a self given or "temporary" title or nickname for the Republican party from 1864-68. @FloridaArmy:, are you thinking of the short lived Liberal Republican Party of the early 1870s? Their platform and background seems to paralel the article description here. OgamD218 (talk) 01:10, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The problem we have UserOgamD218 isnthat we have an article on a temporary name that we say dissolved in 1868 and then we habe the Proceedings of the National Union Republican convention held at Philadelphia, June 5 and 6, 1872. So either it's two different subjects or we have been reporting the history incorrectly. Which is it? I weite entries by what sources and evidence show. See also Horace Maynard's Wikipedia article: "Maynard's name was on the ballot to be nominated for Vice President in the 1872 National Union Republican Convention held in Philadelphia on June 5 and 6. Maynard lost and only received 26 total votes. All 24 from Tennessee, and 1 each from Alabama and Mississippi.[7]".
