Ji Woo's Review

The lead on Data Hiding presents a great overview of "data hiding" practices in different fields. I think providing a bit more background as to why this is a growing field would make it more comprehensive. i.e. data tracking, data breach incidents, etc. Also I think it will be great to probe how this field is closely associated with Data Encryption, if they are different, how they are different.

Overall, i think neutral and objective tone continue throughout the article, and sources are credible and reliable. Also despite the fact that the nature of information is very technical, i think this articles does a good job of making this information comprehensible even to non-tech savvy reader.

One note on "patchwork" - if you could add one or two more sentences on why it is such effective method, I think it will help the readers understand which is best method to incorporate if they actually want to apply data hiding practices in their relative fields.

Liv's Peer Review[edit]

What does the article do well? Is there anything from your review that impressed you? Any turn of phrase that described the subject in a clear way? The topic of the article is super interesting and lends itself well to editing in the future by people from different domains. The article does a fairly good job of explaining some terms such as Patchwork. For an article that has so many highly technical aspects, they are all explained in an accessible, easy to understand manner. For the most part, the article follows the Wikipedia-style of writing. All links work and sources are properly cited except for example.com, which may be a test or filler.

What changes would you suggest the author apply to the article? The main changes I would suggest to improve the article are mainly organizational. As of right now, the article is a little messy due to the style of headers and some of the titles. For example, "Where Data is Hidden" should be the same style as "Data Hiding" and could perhaps be renamed to something like "Methods of Data Hiding". Furthermore, since the article is still a draft, some of the sections seem a little incomplete such as "Additional Supplemental methods". If you have time, I would consider potentially taking a quick look to see if there is any laws/governmentalities about data hiding or any historical info for a richer intro. Furthermore, there are a few terms that could be expanded on to make the article a bit easier to understand - i.e. although you link to the Steganography wikipedia page more than once, it might be helpful to quickly explain that steganography is a technique where data is specifically concealed within a certain file like an image or video.

What's the most important thing the author could do to improve the article? As previously stated, the most important change needed for this article is to organize it in order to look cleaner and become easier to read. There are also a few sentences that could be improved to better suit the Wikipedia-style of writing and to flow better. Furthermore, it might be helpful to re-read some of the sections and clarify. For example, what makes steganography different than Data Hiding? Is Data Hiding only used in malicious contexts - what are the cases in which it is used to protect data?
