A few more sources[edit]

@S0091: I appreciate you taking the time to review the draft. I have found a few additional sources related to Ben Lerer and I'd be curious for your opinion on them:

I appreciate any insight you have! Cheers, BINK Robin (talk) 22:02, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@BINK Robin Variety is about Group Nine not Lerer and the portions featuring Lerer are mostly what he says. Mashable is based on what Lerer says ("We called Lerer to find out" followed with what he told them). Being on 40 Under 40 type lists are not helpful for notability not to mention most of the content is what he says. Still, I would switch out the TechCrunch piece with Variety to support the creation of Group Nine/merger because TechCrunch is considered a weak source (see WP:TECHCRUNCH). @S0091: Thanks for taking a look. I made user space draft to keep this around and preview changes in case there are any new sources that are published. Would you be willing to take another look if I find some that better meet the criteria? Appreciate all your help here! Cheers, BINK Robin (talk) 16:36, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BINK Robin Actually, if you find at least one other good source that provides independent coverage about Lerer update the draft resubmit. It's generally best to get another's reviewer's take after improvements are made. Also, while there is no agreement exactly what qualities as WP:SIGCOV, a rule of thumb is 100 words. I looked at the Wired article again so to use that as an example, the first paragraph in the The Big Risk section meets WP:secondary/independent as it is the author's analysis but it doesn't meet WP:SIGCOV. It is also fine to use some of what he says in the draft as long as it is attributed to him. I like to use a musicians influences as an example as only they can know who/what their influences are so that can only come from them. I think it's fair game to include a bit about Leher's strategy/vision and in a 2013 interview with Wired, he stated wanted expand beyond Thrillist and that Wired stated his model was risky, etc. It leads into the creation of Nine Group in 2016. Of course that doesn't help with notability but it does help the reader understand Lerer (i.e. why he did what he did and what did others say about it/him).S0091 (talk) 17:22, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
