The UK Argentine Tango Association (UKATA) was established on 11th December 2020 (the International Day of Tango) as a not-for-profit Unincorporated Association by a group of UK based Tango professionals and enthusiasts to encourage a stronger, more cohesive tango community throughout the United Kingdom.[1]
The need for a recognised association representing the UK Tango community was first felt as a response to COVID 19 by the many independent UK tango clubs and professionals.
Since 2020 UKATA has two main aims:
a. to encourage more people across the UK to discover and participate in the varied art forms of Argentine tango.
b. to create a network of communication and support between members which range from tango professionals, right through to part-time enthusiasts.
