Tyriq Jackson is an American businessman, politician, entrepreneur, teacher, and political consultant. Jackson, was born in Atlanta, Georgia June 7th, 1996. Tyriq Jackson attended Fayette County High School and Morehouse College. During the 2019 Morehouse College Commencement, Tyriq was awarded the Student Freedom Initiative Scholarship from Robert F. Smith. Jackson has experience and leadership spanning political management, multilateral diplomacy, healthcare, education, and business.

Education[edit]

Jackson attended Fayette County Board of Education schools from the second grade until his senior year. Jackson attended Flat Rock Middle School and graduated from Fayette County High School in 2014.[1] At Fayette County High School, Jackson was a varsity football and track letterman.[2][3] He also was a member of Future Business Leaders Association (FBLA) and placed #2 statewide in the 2014 stock-market simulation.

After high school, Jackson attended Morehouse College as a recipient of the National Science Foundation's Discovery Research PreK-12 Scholarship. He also received the Bonner Office of Community Service Scholarship. Jackson received his BA in Political Science and Minor in Education on May 19th 2019.

Jackson attended Bard College's Globalization and International Affairs Program in 2017.[4]

In 2022, Jackson acquired a Masters of Technology Leadership & Management, concentrated in Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation at Agnes Scott College.[5]

International Affairs[edit]

After attending NSF's DRK-12 study abroad trips to Cuba and Ghana, Jackson fully emerged into international affairs and development. Jackson led mission trips to Cuba in 2016, Ghana in 2017, and the Dominican Republic in 2018. There, he met with local leaders, businessmen, and governments to address the critical needs of children in each country.[6]

Sponsored by the Atlanta United Nations Association and UN Foundation, Jackson took over 200+ toiletries and books to Ghanaian youth in 2017. Shortly afterwards, Jackson was selected as 1 of 5 American youth to attend the 42nd Plenary Assembly of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic where he was selected as a co-sponsor and presenter of the Free-Primary Education bill.[7][8]

Internationally, Jackson has served Irish-Americans domestically and abroad. In 2021, Jackson served as the Public Diplomacy & Research Officer for Ireland's Department of Foreign Affairs in the Atlanta Irish Consulate.[9] Jackson collaborated with the Consulate, The African-American Diaspora Network, The Institute for Study Abroad Ireland, and the Andrew Young Center for Global Leadership to host the "Imperfect Parallels, Past and Present: The Civil Rights Movements in the USA and Ireland" series.[9][10]

American Politics[edit]

Jackson served as Public Diplomacy & Research Officer for the Dept. of Foreign Affairs in Ireland in 2021, Body-person to 2020 U.S. Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang, Special Projects Specialist to 2021 Senator-elect Jon Ossoff, and Special Assistant on Stacey Abrams' 2018 Gubernatorial campaign.[11]

Jackson has ran as a Democrat for the 2022 Georgia House of Representatives, and is currently running for Georgia Senate, District 34 in Clayton and Fayette counties.[12][13]

Awards & Recognition[edit]

In 2017, Jackson won the Brailsford R. Brazeal Award from Morehouse College, which is presented to four students each year whom faculty and staff feels best exemplifies the qualities of a Morehouse Man through academic excellence and community service.[12]
