Sam Hutchinson (born 28th February 2001 in Leeds, West Yorkshire) is an English singer/songwriter and founding member of the rock band Hot Liquor Tank.[1]

About[edit]

One of the two frontmen for Leeds based Hot Liquor Tank, Sam set off his solo career when 2023's - "Stick To The Script", was released. The record spoke on Sam's experiences touring with Nigel Passey, adopting an observational writing style. "I went back to the studio with Nigel and recorded the songs in two or three takes, then picked the ones we felt worked best" - Sam Hutchinson. Once the record was out Sam went on to book a UK tour, playing various shows performing and talking on the songs and how they came about. The tour gained critical acclaim resulting in Sam booking another 5 shows, more local and a lot more intimate/stripped back. After the tour Sam focused on writing and producing music alongside Nigel, though hinted at a new solo record in the works.[2]

Hutchinson has supported bands such as The Trilogies[3] featuring Bradley Johnson (Vinny Dingle in Emmerdale), Freddie Bolt (Reece Murgatroyd in Ackley Bridge 2017–2019) and Singer/songwriter Nigel Passey[4].[5] Hutchinson has also played venues such as The Otley Tap House[6][7](renowned for its live music),[8] and Guiseley Theatre along with Nigel Passey[9]

Influences and Musical Style[edit]

Hutchinson is influenced by musicians such as Gary Lightbody, Kelly Jones, Noel Gallagher, Biffy Clyro and AC/DC.[10] He is noted for his strong smoky vocals and has been compared to the likes of Kelly Jones from the Stereophonics.[11]

Documentary/Film[edit]

In addition to the 5 track EP Hutchinson released in early 2023, "Stick To The Script" also appeared as a Documentary/Film, premiering on YouTube later that summer.[12]

"Stick To The Script tells the story of Sam Hutchinson's musical journey and how facing adversity helped him strive for something greater than grass root performances. From back garden parties to sold out venues, Sam is set to tour and embarks on new opportunities with singer/songwriter Nigel Passey, sparking a potential collaboration."[13]
