Roberta Pilkenton was one of the seamstresses who sewed the Apollo spacesuits used by the astronauts on the many NASA Apollo missions to outer space. [1]

Career[edit]

NASA had selected International Latex Corp (ILC) or ILC Dover to create the lunar space suits in March of 1962.[1] Pilkenton started work at ILC on October 19, 1965 as a Class A Sewer. [2] She later became a Class A Cementer, and after six months became a group leader.[2] Pilkenton said about the work: "It was a challenge. And I liked a challenge!" [2]
