The Ranger Cub is a Mini based kit car dating back to 1970's.[1]: 94
Design[edit]
The Cub is a front-engined two-seater convertible. The front subframe came from a Austin Mini . It was conceived and manufactured by the Ranger Automotive Co Ltd based at the Bridge Works, Upper Rainham Rd, Elm Park, Hornschurch, Essex.
It was available at a cost of £345, for this money you got a basic space frame built from 1.5" 14 gauge steel box section and a "Marine Quality" fiberglass body that came in 6 colours.
From the Mini came the Engine/gearbox and front subframe, the left hand rear suspension unit, the rear seat and fuel tank. The fuel tank from a saloon could fit, but most builders used one from a Mini Van/Pickup.
Option parts were a Soft top, boot compartment and custom lining.
