Draft:Northern Victory League

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Northern Victory League was a league created by representatives of the northern clubs where teams only played 14 games being created on the 11th of January 1919. Representatives from Durham City, Middlesbrough, Newcastle United, Scotswood, South Shields and Sunderland and later Hartlepools United and Darlington (Darlington were unable to organise themselves in time for the league and so were replaced by Darlington Forge Albion[1]), all met together to form a league of 8 clubs to return first-class football to the area.[1] The league was later disbanded due to the reformation of the football league after the First World War.
