Michael Paul Robb is a professor of speech-language pathology. He has held academic appointments at the University of Hawaii, University of Connecticut, University of Canterbury, and most recently at Pennsylvania State University.[1]

Academic Career[edit]

Michael Robb received a BS degree in speech pathology and audiology from Western Michigan University (1979). He was awarded a MS degree (1983) and PhD (1988) from Syracuse University in speech-language pathology.[citation needed] He has been a visiting professor at the University of Kuwait and Hong Kong University. His specialty is experimental phonetics, with particular interest in aspects of speech motor control related to early speech acquisition, stuttering, and English as a Second Language. Professor Robb has been an active researcher since 1985. Over his career, he has presented more than 100 conference papers and published over 100 refereed journal articles.  He holds the Certificate of Clinical Competency in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).[citation needed] He is the editor-in-chief of the Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica, which is the official publication of the International Association of Communication Sciences and Disorders.[citation needed]

Awards[edit]

Professor Robb was recognized as a Fellow by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association in 2009. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Association of Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2019 and the Honors of the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2020.[2]
