Brief History[edit]

Diplomatic ties between Malaysia and Switzerland were officially formed in 1963. Although the two nations maintained friendly relations, the closure of the Malaysian Embassy in Berne, Switzerland occurred on October 13, 1993, in response to the worldwide economic downturn of the early 1990s. Following a decision by the Cabinet on July 9, 2002, the Malaysian government reopened the Embassy in Bern. Consequently, the Embassy was re-established on April 13, 2003, and continues its operations to the present day.[2]
