Introduction[edit]

Village Madhubhanda , under Basta Police Station and Basta Tehsil is situated at a distance of 228.9 km towards North of Bhubaneswar and 220.1 km towards South of Kolkata via National Highway 16, in Balasore District of Odisha state. Its Postal Index Number is 756029. It is a revenue village of Basta Panchayat Samiti having 464 population as estimated in 2023. But according to 2011 census its population was 380, out of which 178 are males and 202 are females. Its Latitude is 87.0955108 and Longitude is 21.6936783. Towards east of village Madhubhanda the N.H. 16, west village Ranamundali , Basta Railway Station, North- Village Kundapur and South-Village Baramadhia is situated. The R.D. Road runs through village Madhubhanda, starting from N.H. 16 in east and joins Basta Railway Station in west. There is very good communication facilities to village Madhubhanda by Rail and Road. The newly proposed Aerodrome is at Rasgovindpur which is at a distance of 10 kms towards North of Village Madhubhanda.

Village Madhubhanda is situated at a distance of 30 kms from District Headquarter Balasore and 1 km distance from sub-district Headquarter Basta. This village comes under Brahmanda G.P. and Basta Constituency.

Language[edit]

Most commonly spoken language in this village is Odia.

Climate[edit]

Village Madhubhanda , located under Basta Tehsil of Balasore , Odisha has a tropical climate having year-round high temperature and excessive humidity. Here the summer season starts from March to May ranging from 38degrees to 46degrees Celsius. The winter season starts from December to February having a record as low as 6.7 degree Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius. The winter season is ideal to visit village Madhubhanda. The Monsoon season starts from June and continues till September. This village is prone to low pressure and stormy climate.

Subsistence Economy[edit]

People of village Madhubhanda are farmers, and they depend upon paddy cultivation to maintain their daily livelihood.

Government and Politics[edit]

The M.L.A of of Basta Constituency Mr.Nityananda Sahoo of Biju Janata Dal is the sitting M.L.A since 2019. Mr. Pratap Chandra Sarangi of Bhartiya Janta Party is the sitting M.P. of Balasore Constituency. Previous M.L.A. of Basta Constituency were Mr. Raghunath Mohanty (BJD), Late Maheswar Bag (BJD) and Late Akshya Narayan Praharaj.

Education[edit]

Majumdar Upper Primary School is situated at the heart of village Madhubhanda. Sambhunath High School , Basta is situated at a distance of 500 meters from Madhubhanda Village. Nearest college to Madhubhanda is Nilamani Government College, Rupsa in the south and Sidheswar College , Amarda Road in the North. There is a Government Girl's High School at Basta, which is at a distance of 1km from village Madhubhanda.

Health[edit]

Basta Government Hospital having five hundred beds for the patients is situated in village Sadanandapur at a distance of 600 meters from village Madhubhanda and the hospital is well connected with pukka road to this village. Apart from the Government Hospital there are private clinics at Basta Bazaar. Most of the villagers' avail Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana for thier treatment at free of cost in different hospitals.

Drinking water and Sanitation[edit]

Villagers of Madhubhanda have adopted Swaachha Bharat Yojana and they keep their village clean and sanitized by using pukka toilets. In Basundha Yojana of the B.J.D. Government every house is connected with water taps and all villagers use pure drinking water. Drainage system in village Madhubhanda is under construction. Sasthya Sathi and Anganwadi Kendra of village Madhubhanda monitor the sanitation condition of the village.

Agriculture[edit]

Most of the villagers of village Madhubhanda are famers and they earn their livelihood through agriculture. 80% of the villagers are farmers and they mostly depend upon Monsoon for thier cultivation. The Government has installed one deep tube-well for irrigation purpose. Villagers sell their paddy to the Government through their society get sale price in Government rates. Farmers use modern cultivation Machineries like tractors, paddy harvester in their field.

Communication and Transportation[edit]

There is both rail-road communication and transportation facility to village Madhubhanda. In the east of the village runs N.H.60 and in west Basta Railway Station is situated. Both N.H. and Railway station are connected by a 2.1 km. Long Rural Development Road which runs through village Madhubhanda. Light and Heavy vehicles easily cross the R.D. Road from Railway Station to N.H. and vice-versa. The village comes under Basta Post Office, which is at a distance of one kilometer.
