LEGO Fortnite is an open-world survival crafting sandbox game that is playable in Fortnite. It is the first insight into the long-term partnership between Epic Games and The LEGO Group. The game released on December 7, 2023. The game is playable on all platforms on which Fortnite is available including the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Windows.[1] The game is also a cross-platform game which allows players playing from different devices to play together. The game has been rated E10+ by ESRB but has been proclaimed for all ages by Lego.

Gameplay[edit]

Played in a third-person perspective, players take control of their favorite Fortnite Outfits in a Lego version (announced as LEGO Styles). Not all but more than 1,200 Outfits have their own LEGO Style. It has been confirmed that more LEGO Styles will be releasing in early 2024. The game is said to be a PvE game. Also, the LEGO Style skins are not authorized to be used outside of the LEGO Fortnite game mode.

The game's motive is to survive. The game is not regular Fortnite. The game is consisting of 3 biomes- Lush Forests, Boulder Coast and a snow biome which has not been given an official name yet. The game has many hostile and non-hostile creatures, the non-hostile ones include the chickens, cows and sheep, moreover, the hostile ones include the wolves, skeletons, and spiders.[2]

Fortnite’s LEGO model will feature mining mechanics and a building tool with nine slots instead of the usual four, that can be used to store schematics. It also suggests that sleeping in a bed will help restore health and stamina, with mining as the primary source of building materials.[3]

Development[edit]

The game was announced on December 3, 2023. It was announced via a live event titled "The Big Bang", which took place in Fortnite and took the player to a Lego-themed open world in which they traveled across in the newly featured LEGO Outfits. The announcement trailer was also released on YouTube, featuring a Fortnite Outfit turning into its Lego version.[4] The LEGO Group and Epic Games announced a $1 billion partnership on April 7, 2022, and the LEGO Fortnite game mode seems to be the first step into this collaboration.[5]
