Submission declined on 3 January 2024 by KylieTastic (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of music-related topics). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Kid Caviar (born Chris Abbott) is a musician and singer-songwriter from Santa Monica, California. Born in 1965, he began recording in 1988 and has been doing so ever since.
A multi-instrumentalist, he began his recording career with Skatemaster Tate on the album, A Way of Life. He wrote the song "Jolt", later featured in the 1991 movie, What About Bob? In 1998 he scored a skateboarding movie, Skatehers, one of the first skate vids to feature all female riders.
Caviar has recorded three albums with the band Horny Toad, first Thirteen on Domo Records, then Cheese and Hayride on Built on an Ounce. With Skatemaster Tate he toured the United States supporting the bands J.F.A (Jody Foster's Army) and with Horny Toad he has toured Mexico, Japan, Bangkok, United Kingdom, and the United States. Other members of Horny Toad are Louichi Mayorga and R.J. Herrera of Suicidal Tendencies fame, Sal Troy of No Mercy and guitarist Moises Casillas of The Untouchables. Moises and Caviar played together in the punk rock band No Reaction prior to forming Horny Toad. Other notable players in Horny Toad have been Anthony Brewster (also of The Untouchables and House of Vibe) Brian Behling, Doug Sanborn, and Jerry Angel.
Kid Caviar has been playing acoustic music for years under many different handles: Jack Folgers, Chris Shindoe, and Chris Abbott. It was while traveling with his acoustic guitar and playing establishments across the US that he self-titled his style "African-Americana".
Caviar has written music related articles for Breaks Magazine (Venice, CA) and North Shore News (Oahu, HI).
Chris Abbott AKA Kid Caviar is an avid painter, writer, surfer and musician.
