Submission declined on 7 November 2023 by Significa liberdade (talk). Subject passes Wikipedia's notability guidelines for athletes. However, the article needs a bit more clean up. At present, there are some claims made in the lead that are not explained in more detail in the body of the article (e.g., national records and membership on Team Canada). |
Submission declined on 3 November 2023 by Vanderwaalforces (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. |
- Comment: The record was broken and verified. It was certified by Guinness and the reference was added. There is sufficient evidence of notability especially when combining various novelty factors

Farzam was born circa 1993[3] in Tehran and moved to Canada at age 6.[4] He attended Pickering High School, where he competed in track events at the national level. In 2015, he graduated from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (OUIT), where he received a Bachelor of Science in biology.[3][4] While at OUIT, Farzam sustained an injury that made it difficult for him to compete in track events, so he focused on powerlifting.[5] Farzam later attended the University of New England,[4] where he obtained a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.[6] He completed his medical residency in family medicine at the University of Iowa.[4]
Career[edit]

Farzam is an attending physician at McMaster University Medical Centre.[6] He is also an adjunct assistant clinical professor in McMaster's Faculty of Health Sciences.[7]
He is an emergency room physician in Ontario[4] and family doctor at Curex Medical Center in Waterloo, Ontario.[8][9]
Powerlifting[edit]
Farzam entered his first powerlifting competition in 2013. In 2015, he received the bronze medal at the powerlifting national championships in the 83-kilogram class.[3] Later that year, he competed at the International Powerlifting Federation’s (IPF) World Classic in Salo, Finland, where he placed second in his weight class.[5]
On November 1, 2023, Farzam set a Guinness world record for the most weight bench pressed by a man in 30 seconds. He successfully completed 30 repetitions of 120 kilograms (265 pounds) for a total of 3,610 kilograms (7,958 pounds).[10][11] The previous record was 3,480 kilograms (7,672 pounds).[12]
