Entries should be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Please rewrite your submission in a more encyclopedic format. Please make sure to avoid peacock terms that promote the subject. This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of music-related topics). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Kamakazi is a Canadian pop-punk and pop-rock band from Montreal, Canada formed in 2006. They released 4 albums, 6 EPs, and more than 15 music videos. With a track record of over 300 concerts across Canada and Europe, coupled with thousands of albums sold and millions of digital music plays.[1][2]
The band's debut French album, Tirer le meilleur du pire, launched in 2008 on Slam Disques, and indie record label. The album featured chart-topping singles such as Rien entre les deux oreilles, Isa, and Clomysalyne, earning them widespread recognition on Canadian television and radio, along with coveted slots at major music festivals.[1][2]
In 2011, Kamakazi's sophomore release, Rien à Cacher, released by Indica Records, expanded their reach globally with hit singles Fou de toi and Winnebago. The album's success culminated in a nomination for Best Rock Album at the Gala de l'ADISQ.[1][2]
The band's foray into English music came in 2013 with the launch of their third album, See What Happens, complemented by a French EP, Foxyboxe, which produced their first #1 singles in both languages. They also produced five Christmas EPs (A Very Naughty Kamakazi Christmas, A Naughtier Kamakazi Christmas, The Naughtiest Kamakazi Christmas, A Even Naughtier Than The Naughtiest Kamakazi Christmas and A More Angry Than Naughty Kamakazi Christmas) which have gathered over millions of streams over the last decade.[2][1]
Their fourth album, Regarde Maman, I'm on the TV! was released in early 2016 and received critical acclaim and fan appreciation alike. A tour of Canada and Europe followed.[1]
In 2018, marking the 10th anniversary of their debut album, Kamakazi went on a 10-date tour in Canada. The subsequent year saw the release of a pop-punk cover of Montreal rapper Loud's hit Toutes les femmes savent danser on Slam Disques's ZOO cover song compilation, achieving significant airplay on FM and satellite radio.[3] [4][1]
