Joseph Ronald Kathrein (born October 30, 1979) is a film, tv and theatre actor. He has guest starred and recurred on TV series including Low Winter Sun, Grimm, Chicago P.D., Locke & Key and Mayor of Kingstown.[1] He also appeared as Shane Harboe in Dial a Prayer opposite Brittany Snow and William H. Macy.[2] He is a dual citizen of Canada and the United States.[3]
Early Life[edit]
Kathrein was born on October 30, 1979 in Detroit, Michigan. He is a graduate of Michigan State University.[4]
Career[edit]
Kathrein trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and William Esper Studio.[5] His first TV credit was Detroit 1-8-7, shortly followed by his recurring role on Low Winter Sun.
In 2017 Kathrein understudied the role of Jamie Tyrone in a production of Long Day's Journey Into Night at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, CA. The production was directed by Jeanie Hackett and starred Alfred Molina and Jane Kaczmarek.[6]
Kathrein's career continued with many guest starring and recurring roles. In 2022 he starred as Kyle in the Hallmark movie Fly Away With Me, filmed in Ottawa, Canada.[7][8]

Kathrein has been married to actress Jayne McLendon since 2017.[9]
