Ilaria Tuti is an Italian writer of crime and mystery fiction, born in 1976 in Gemona del Friuli, in the province of Udine, Italy. She has a degree in economics, but also pursued her passions for painting, photography and storytelling. She published her first novel, Flowers Over the Inferno, in 2018, featuring the character of Teresa Battaglia, a sixty-year-old police commissioner and profiler. The novel was followed by four sequels and a TV adaptation starring Elena Sofia Ricci. Tuti also wrote a historical novel, Fiore di roccia, set during the First World War and focusing on the role of the portatrici carniche, women who carried supplies to the front lines. She won several literary awards, including the Gran Giallo Città di Cattolica prize in 2014 and the Premio letterario nazionale per la donna scrittrice in 2020.
