Hamburger Arroganz, a band from Hamburg, has founded in 1985. They started by paying homage to their beloved hometown "Livin' in Hamburg" gradually branched out into party and critical songs..[1] Their work spans various music styles, for fans of Rap / Hip Hop, Pop, Funk, Rock, and Jazz alike. Founding members include frontman and producer Arn Schlürmann, Thomas Marx, Young Hack Chi, and Uwe Krop, with Schlürmann's voice adding a distinctive expression to their song.[2]
Arn Schlürmann, Thomas Marx, and Young Hack, also recognized as Markus Chi, established a presence in the German music scene through their initial releases, "Livin' in Hamburg" and "Zeitgeist."

The group was established in 1986 by Thomas Marx, Arn Schlürmann, and Young Hack "Markus" Chi. They were influenced by the rap (later also known as hip-hop) movement in the USA, leading them to start creating their own lyrics and producing beats that reflected the social and cultural aspects of their hometown, Hamburg.
Advancing their career with "Zeitgeist," they established a presence in the German hip-hop scene, gaining recognition for their analytical lyrics and unique sound. This album mirrored the mood and political shifts of the late 1980s in Germany, eventually recognized as the period of German reunification.

- Thomas Marx is also one of the founding members and served as a songwriter, co-vocalist, and bassist for the group.[5]
- Young Hack "Markus" Chi is a founding member and played a crucial role on keyboards and synthesizers.[6]
- Olivier Böhm later joined the group, bringing a significant groove to Hamburger Arroganz's music with his style reminiscent of Stewart Copeland (The Police). This was evident both in studio recordings and live performances.
- During the founding years, Uwe Krop was also part of the team, known for his adept artist management and creative ideas.
