Georges-Simon Ulrich (* 17 August 1968 in Fribourg, Switzerland) has directed the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (FSO) since 2013. Since February 2024, he has also been the Chair of the UN Statistical Commission.

Life and work[edit]

From 1992 onwards, Georges-Simon Ulrich held top management positions in market, social and opinion research. In 2011, he assumed the role of Director of LUSTAT Statistics Lucerne, the public statistical office of the Canton of Lucerne. In June 2013, he was appointed Director General of the Federal Statistical Office by the Federal Council, taking office in October 2013.

Georges-Simon Ulrich represented Switzerland as a member of the Bureau of the UN Statistical Commissionfor the first time from 2017 to 2018. Since 2022 he has been a member of its Bureau, serving as Vice-Chair from 2022 to 2023. In February 2024, he was elected as the Commission's

Following studies in business administration at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration, Georges-Simon Ulrich completed a Master of Business Administration at the University of Southern Queensland. He obtained his Doctor ofBusiness Administration from the same university for a thesis on stakeholder management and communication.He is also active as professor for strategic management and research methods at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration.
