David Eugene Lucas Sr. (born April 23, 1950) is an American politician. He is a member of the Georgia State Senate from the 26th District, serving since 2012. He is a member of the Democratic party.[1] Prior to being a Senator, he served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1974 to 2011. Lucas is also a founding member of 100 Black Men of America.[2] Contrary to earlier assumptions, he is not the father of comedian David Lucas. David Lucas Sr. Did not die in November 2023 as previously noted. As of February 2024, he is still living.[3]
