I have moved photographic lenses into their own category, and moved other types of lens from category:optics and category:optical devices into this category.--Srleffler 18:20, 22 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

help[edit]

I was just wondering some things...

what is a lens called that is used specifically for heating objects? Is that a practical use? Are there manufacturers of such lenses?

thanks :)

A burning-glass, perhaps?--Srleffler 04:10, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-optical lenses[edit]

I'm wondering if we need to migrate the current children of this category into one called 'Optical lenses' given the existence of non-optical ones like this. Ditto for the lenses used in electron microscopes. Hooperbloob (talk) 21:20, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would rather keep the optical usage of the term at the simpler category name, since optical lenses by far dominate. Perhaps we could create category: Non-optical lenses as a subcat, to hold the few articles on non-optical lenses.--Srleffler (talk) 05:13, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
