I recently added an external link, which was removed with a comment saying that categories don't have external links. Why don't they have that? It might still be interesting for people who visit the category page. —Kri (talk) 22:25, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well I would be guessing, but probably because readers access categories to see other similar articles, not to be lead to external links. In general external links are tightly controlled on Wikipedia, because so many people try to WP:SPAM the encyclopedia. - Ahunt (talk) 01:44, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
