Bad targeting[edit]

Immigration is about changing allegiance or being subject of from one country to another. Your emigration status has to be tied to a clearly defined and recognized country. If this category is to be merged it should be to Emigrants from the Russian Empire to the United States, since that is where they were emigrating from.John Pack Lambert (talk) 04:45, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Disagreed. It's a good target, because the Grand Duchy of Finland was very autonomous having its own laws, citizenship, self-governance, army, monetary system, etc., and consisted of ethnic Finns. But, if this category is merged to its parent category "Finnish emigrants to the United States", I'm ok with it if someones wants to add these articles also to "Emigrants from the Russian Empire to the United States" after the merger. I mean, they already are in "Emigrants from the Russian Empire to the United States" because that's this category's parent category. --Kliituu (talk) 11:11, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
