Why many of the Macedonias have Greek Last Names? I think most greek names like papadopoulos, kallas, vardalos , maniatis, kostopoulos, Stroumboulopoulos, Chelios ends with an 's'...

If for example Kotsopoulos parents was borned in North Greece, aren`t they also Greek descent ? I'm really confused cz Im writting an article about NHL and immigrants in Canada.
