Balaband Rural District (Persian: دهستان بالابند) is in the Central District of Fariman County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran.[3] Its capital is the village of Zarkak.[4]

At the National Census of 2006, its population was 8,501 in 1,909 households.[5] There were 8,868 inhabitants in 2,330 households at the following census of 2011.[6] At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 7,918 in 2,203 households. The most populous of its 46 villages was Chahar Bast Bagh, with 979 people.[2]
