Arnold Rodrigues is a former footballer who played as a midfielder for Salgaocar and the India football team.^[2] Born in Tanzania, he represented India internationally, after making his debut in 1977.

Early life[edit]

Rodrigues was born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to Goan parents, before being sent to a boarding school Monte de Guirim School in Bardez, Goa, India.^[1] His family hailed from Orlim, Salcete, Goa.^[3]

Career[edit]

Rodrigues played for the club Salgaocar^[3] and the Goa football team at the Santosh Trophy.^[4]

In 1989, Rodrigues signed with Croydon of Isthmian Football League.^[5] He also appeared with English Non-League football outfit Simba, a team having Goan players.^[5]

Style of play[edit]

Rodrigues was known for his speed and dribbling ability.^[6]

Personal life[edit]

Rodrigues is married, has lived in London, England, is a British citizen, and is a supporter of English Premier League side Liverpool.^[5]
