Anostomus brevior, the striped headstander,[1] is a species of fish in the family Anostomidae.[1][2][3] It occurs in South America[1][2] and is present in the aquarium fish trade.[1]
Description[edit]
It can grow to 12 cm (4.7 in) standard length.[2]
Distribution and habitat[edit]
Anostomus brevior was first collected from Camopi, a tributary of the Oyapock River in French Guiana. It is now known to be widespread in French Guiana and present in Suriname.[1] It is associated with rivers and creeks with strong currents and rocky to sandy substrates.[1][2]
