Anna Guo
Anna Guo (Chinese: 郭敏清; pinyin: Guō Mǐnqīng) is a Chinese-born Canadian traditional musician who plays the yangqin. She taught at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. From 1985 to 1996, she was head of the Shanghai Women's Silk String Quintet. In 1996 she emigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.[1][2] In 2007, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra performed with Guo on yangqin, Wong Onyuen on gaohu, and George Gao on erhu.[3]

The cultural epiphany came in the two China-meets-the-West mash-ups. In the first, Anna Guo, the Toronto-based master of the yangqin (a type of hammer dulcimer) teamed up with the Canadian Sinfonietta String Quartet in three pieces – two Chinese and Mozart's Rondo alla turca.

Anna Guo (Guo Min-Qing), a former professor at the renowned Shanghai Conservatory of Music, has been teaching and playing the yang-qin for more than 30 years. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong special administrative region, the Hong Kong Chinese orchestra will perform a cultural exchange concert, featuring artistic director Yan Huichang, gaohu master Wong Onyuen, erhu master George Gao, and yangqin master Anna Guo.
