Amy Hargreaves (born January 27, 1970[1]) is a New York City based actress and mother of two who has worked in film, television, theater and voice work since she was a child. She is best known for her role on Homeland as Maggie Mathison[2], as well as Lainie Jensen, mother of protagonist Clay Jensen, in the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why and as Sam from the Cannes award-winning film, ‘Blue Ruin’.

A fixture on the independant film scene - Amy has had 4 projects premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, and others premiere at Tribeca, SXSW, Hamptons, and Palm Springs Festivals. She has worked with some of the most accomplished and well regarded directors working today including - Todd Haynes, Jeremy Saulnier, Steve McQueen, Tony Gilroy and Tom McCarthy. She also starred in ths 1990s cult-classic film Brainscan alongside Frank Langella and Edward Furlong.[3]

On stage, she has been seen Off-Broadway in work with The Barrow Group, Abingdon Theater Company, The Jewish Rep as well as at The Cherry Lane Theater and 59E59. With The Barrow Group, she was an original member of FAB Women (For, About and By Women) - and began work there as a playwright and a director. Two of her one-act plays were produced and published through these efforts.

Amy’s other television credits include ‘Flashback’ for HBO (CableACE nominee- Guest Actress in a Dramatic Special or Series), recurring roles on Law and Order: SVU, Blind Spot and Third Watch, as well as the telefilm ‘The Warrant: Breaker’s Law’ (Westy Award- Best Actress) and the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie ‘St. Maybe’.

In addition to Amy's thriving creative career, she has served as the first mentor to SpeakWell and has continued in this capacity for the last five years. Speakwell is a public speaking and youth leadership program that started with nine students and now has grown to serve nearly 1,000 across the country. Amy has been deeply involved in the program helping students find and express their unique voices.
