Should we classify all Batak languages speaker ethnic groups as Bataks too whereas all of them (except Toba Batak) reject as part as Batak nation. -- Si Gam (talk) 04:19, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The arrangement in the template was based on the fact that they belong to the same language group, and also I don't think that the Tobas are the only one that consider themselves as Batak too. Though there are significant opposition to the collective term by other sub-ethnics, still not all of them share the same thought. I also feel that the reason to the rejection of the term Batak is more social-political rather than intellectual. In keeping to the spirit of Wikipedia, it's best that the grouping under the term Batak is done neutrally and intellectually. I think until today there is no conclusion to this on-going argument. Perhaps other Batak Wikipidians can share their input on this matter. Jeblat (talk) 14:08, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
