Short description[edit]

Hello. How did you notice this edit? Do long short descriptions show up somewhere? Ss112 01:31, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Ss112, yes, long short descriptions (over 100 characters) are automatically categorized into Category:Articles with long short description as they are considered excessively long and require attention. Shortdesc helper will also generate the full short description below the page title, allowing you to see just how long it is in a glance. In the case of Henryk Górecki: Symphony No. 3 (Symphony of Sorrowful Songs), the short description suggested by GhostInTheMachine was of a much better length than the auto-generated one. Hi there,

According to WP:NAC, non-admins should generally avoid closing an XfD where The outcome is a close call (especially where there are several valid outcomes) or likely to be controversial. I don't think the sitauation in WP:Articles for deletion/Asim Munir (cricketer) (2nd nomination) can be seen as uncontroversial. With three valid Delete arguments, a "no consensus" was certainly a potential valid outcome. Can you please revert your close and allow an admin to relist or close? Thank you. • There's only two valid delete arguments, FWIW; one is a sock that should be given zero weight. 5k-2d (including the nom, which wasn't really that strong), all being valid, is a keep in my view, but I'm biased of course since I was one of the users advocating keep. @OwenX I'm aware of NACD, but having only just stumbled on this particular AfD, I did personally feel that there was—albeit not full—some kind of consensus that sources could be located one way or another, especially after looking over very similar results in the previous AfD nom (despite that one being closed as no consensus). I do understand your concerns, however, and have reopened it. I'll keep an eye on it but won't participate further—hopefully someone else can make a more decisive closure at some point. Courtesy pinging @BeanieFan11 as well. AviCapt (talk to me!) 15:43, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
