The date and place of this photo is strange. There was no fighting anywhere near the Dead Sea in 1917. At the time Jericho was captured in February 1918 (the only operation carried out near the Dead Sea) there is no mention of fighting anywhere near the Dead Sea. If it is indeed the Dead Sea there is a British army person (judging by his headgear) sitting at ease on the right. Unless the Ottoman Army wore similar headgear.
