To avoid deletion attempts[edit]

To avoid deletion attempts here is some info: See Death of Neda Agha-Soltan. And: File:Neda non graphic.jpg. That non-free frame from a famous Youtube video of her death was placed in the article one day after the article was created. See this version of the article from June 22, 2009. Scroll down to see the image.

See also Emmett Till (scroll down) and this famous non-free image of him dead: File:Emmit Till body.jpg. --Timeshifter (talk) 08:48, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've inserted {{Censor}} in order to help further establish this point. KevTYD (wake up) 20:04, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How do we know that this is copyrighted?[edit]

Is every video shooting from a private citizen's phone copyrighted? --ExperiencedArticleFixer (talk) 10:29, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone who creates an original work automatically has copyrights over that work, at least in the United States. See the Wikipedia page on copyright and Wikipedia:Non-free Content if you want more info on how this all works. L ke (talk) 14:49, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
could we contact this person so that she gives away her rights? This photo is needed in other language versions....Nattes à chat (talk) 15:56, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to do so. However, getting permission may be difficult as the author does not seem to have a publicly known email address (which VRT requires) and has not been responding to Facebook comments. Ixfd64 (talk) 20:41, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting edit to fair use rationale to reflect page move[edit]

The article has been moved from "Killing of George Floyd" to "Murder of George Floyd", per consensus at Talk:Murder of George Floyd/Archive 7#Requested move 20 April 2021. Would an admin like to update the fair use rationale to reflect the page move? Stylez995 (talk) 19:03, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
