English: Tenterden Town station, with train from Headcorn on the Last Day of service.
Ex-SE&C class O1 0-6-0 No. 31065 (built as class O in 8/1896, rebuilt as O1 9/1908, withdrawn 6/61) heads the 08.50 from Headcorn for the last time. The independent Kent & East Sussex Railway was closed to passengers that day (2/1/54), although goods continued to Robertsbridge until 12/6/61. The line south from Tenterden was reopened by the (heritage) Kent & East Sussex in stages from 2/74, reaching Bodiam in 2000. [I had to get up extraordinarily early on a dark and cold January morning to reach Headcorn from London in time to catch this train].
