Summary

Description
English: Horsedrawn cart at weighbridge infront of Qunaba Sugar Mill, Bundaberg, 1909 Queensland National Bank branch which was built in 1887 was the owner of QUNABA Mill. The bank purchased Mon Repos' Juice Mill in October 1899 and renamed it “Qunaba”, using the first two letters of each word of its own name (Queensland National Bank). Qunaba Mill reached its peak production in the early 1980s, when the crop exceeded 300,000 tonnes. The high labour costs, coupled with the looming prospect of further loss of production area was the catalyst in the decision to close the factory. The end came on 13th November 1985, when the last bin was tipped at 2:26pm.
