Object history
English: Coat of arms of the Danish town Præstø. Based on town seal known since 1519. The coat of arms is canting ("Præstø" is derived from the Danish words for priest and island). Previously it was claimed that the arms depicted the town's first Lutheran priest or Martin Luther. However as the arms are known from pre-reformatory times this can not be the case.
Dansk: Præstøs byvåben. Baseret på bysegl kendt siden 1519. Våbnet er talende. Tidligere blev det hævdet, at våbnet viste byens første protestantiske præst eller Martin Luther. Dette kan dog ikke være tilfældet, da motivet er kendt fra før-reformatorisk tid.
